Virginia S. Hankins, 85, of Franklin, Arkansas passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born in Benton County, Indiana on July 1, 1930, a daughter of the late Alta (Busey) and Ray Atkinson. Virginia spent her life as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, camping, music, quilting, livestock, spending time with her family and friends and was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Virginia is survived by her three children; Jimmy (Derenda) Shepherd of McAlpin, Florida, Cathy (Don) Selph of Franklin, Arkansas and Mary (Steve) Benoit of Franklin, Arkansas; grandchildren, Ashley (Adam) Lundy, Chris (Cheri) Selph, Clint (Denise) Selph, Cassie (David) Brantley, Colton (Courtney) Selph, Kelsey (Orlando) Cano and Jeff Benoit; great grandchildren, Attison, Arrington, Anndelyn, Logan,Marcella, Amanda, Audrey, Catherine, Aspen, Cash, Macy, Case and Carleigh; step children, Rick (Dorothy) Hankins of Shumway, Illinois and Judy (Charles) Voelker of Altamont, Illinois; step grandchildren, Todd (Denise) Voelker, Troy (Lisa) Voelker, Trevor (Tiffany) Voelker, Timmerley (Kyle) Scholes, Paula (Aaron) Tripp and Chad (Christy) Hankins; step great grandchildren, Myah, Claire, Hayden, Calvin, Cody, Elaine, Wade, Cole, Aubrey, Levi, Adrie, Ciara, Dillon, Cooper and Laila; step great great grandchildren, Lathyn, Kendall and Layne; brother, Neal (Rita) Atkinson and sister, Mavis (Howard) Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harry Shepherd; second husband, Richard Hankins; sister, Gene Hare; son, Michael Allen Shepherd and grandson, Joshua Morgan Shepherd.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 10 beginning at 10:00 AM at Franklin Baptist Church in Franklin, Arkansas with service following at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeff McAnnally officiating. Internment will be held at Roberts Cemetery in Franklin, Arkansas following service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Josh Morgan Shepherd Scholarship Fund, 12595 East Arkansas Highway 56, Franklin, Arkansas 72536.
