Mary "Marie" R. Sawica

Mary R Sawica, (Marie) age 98 passed away peacefully October 20, 2021.

She was born August 23, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois to Michael and Sophie Duran.

She was married to the love of her life Walter J Sawica who preceded her in death in 1979. Also preceding her in passing was her younger sister Celia Szymanski of Chicago, Illinois.

She was a long-time resident of Horseshoe Bend for the past 44 years. Her favorite things were family, cooking, and fun. She was a very dedicated mother and friend to all.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Sawica and his wife Sandy of Michigan, James Sawica and his wife Mary of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Her grandchildren, Kenny Sawica and his wife Nina of Chicago, Illinois, Scott Sawica and his wife Kristin of Michigan, Kristy Merle and her husband Scott of Michigan, Kathryn Payne and her husband Robbie of St. Charles, Missouri, and Melissa Sawica of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Two great grandchildren, Chase and Savannah Sawica of Michigan.

She was a member of St. Mary of The Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend.

The family is forever grateful to Legacy Hospice of Salem, Arkansas for the care and kindness shown to her in her final days.

Final arrangements are being handled with care and compassion by Doty Family Funeral & Memorial Service of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.

Her final resting place will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice, Illinois with graveside service beginning at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
