Jerre Wayne Guthrie

Jerre Wayne Guthrie, 72, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday, April 23rd, at his home. He was born in Anniston, Alabama on July 16, 1942, a son of the late Mary Virgina (Welch) and John Thomas Guthrie. Jerre was united in marriage to Carolyn Fay Rutherford, December 17, 1965 in Columbus, Georgia and to this union came two children, Eric Wayne and Deanna. He spent his life as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. Jerre served in the U.S. Air Force and spent his years as a Pastor for many churches. At the time of his death he was Interim Pastor at Franklin Baptist Church which he loved dearly. Jerre is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; one son, Eric Wayne Guthrie and wife Stacy of Conroe, Texas; one daughter, Deanna Bethea and husband Bubba of LaMarque, Texas; one brother, Jack Guthrie of Flatonia, Texas; four sisters, Mary Nell Tankersley and husband Skeet of Sugarland, Texas, Pat Merrill and husband Wendell of Walnut Grove, Georgia, Betty Diaz and husband Juan of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jonni Williamson and husband Terry of Columbus, Georgia; five grandchildren, Andrew Wayne Guthrie, Kayla Guthrie, Chelsee Alexys Bethea, Seth Bethea and Zach Durham; three great grandchildren, Macy Guthrie, Josie Coley and Brantley Sloatman; daughter in law, Andi Swanson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by, his father, John T. Guthrie; mother, Mary (Jenny) Guthrie; two brothers, William (Bill) Guthrie and Tommy Guthrie; grandson, Kalab Thadd Guthrie; father in law, James (Dub) Rutherford and mother in law, Lucille Rutherford. Memorials preferred to the The Gideons, PO BOX 302 Franklin, AR 72536. Memorial service will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Franklin Baptist Church in Franklin, Arkansas with Rev. Fred McCoy officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Doty Family Funeral and Memorial Service in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
