Douglas Allen Brooks, 72, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

He was born in Blue Island, Illinois on April 1, 1948, son of the late Clyde M. and Beverly (Peterson) Brooks. Doug spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, grandfather, and friend. He was united in marriage to Teri Abel Smith on December 23, 1990 in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Doug served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Turkey Mountain Motors in Franklin, Arkansas. Doug was a member of the Eagle’s and former member of the Auxiliary Police of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas and the Moose Lodge in Illinois. He was a big supporter of ICARE in Melbourne, Arkansas and the Ronald McDonald House. Doug loved dogs and was “grampy” to all the dogs he met.

Doug is survived by his wife, Teri Brooks of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; sons, Travis Smith and Toby Smith both of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; daughters, Hillary Brooks of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Jennifer Brooks of Dwight, Illinois and Holly Brooks of Morris, Illinois; brothers, Collin Brooks of Douglasville, Georgia and Perry Brooks of Bowlingbrook, Illinois; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Beverly Brooks; two brothers and other family members.

Services will be held at a later date.
