Donald Leroy Kirk, 64, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas died March 12th 2015. Don and his twin brother Ronald were born October 7, 1950 to Emmett Luther (Stumpy) Kirk and Mary Jo Wilcox.
Don excelled at sports, in particular diving at Messick High School in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating he joined the Navy in 1968 where he was stationed in Alameda, California. In the Navy he was selected for the elite SeaBee unit and worked as an aircraft electrician. He went on to earn a masters degree from San Jose State and retired from The City Of San Jose in 2004.
After retirement he moved back to Arkansas to be close to his southern family. Don loved to mountain bike, play golf and do home projects. A favorite uncle to all his many nieces and nephews, he will be remembered for his witty smarts, obnoxious laugh and quirky personality.
He was preceded by death by his parents Stumpy and Mary Jo and brother Thomas R. Kirk of Bentonville, Arkansas.
He is survived by his first wife Johanne Knoppel, second wife Dawn; children, Jennifer Kirk Carlson, John Phillip Kirk and Gregory Thomas Kirk; son-in-law, Dean Carlson; daughter-in-laws, Angie Kirk and Sarah Kirk; brothers, Ronald and Steve. Don was a proud grandfather to his three precious grandchildren, Joshua Gregory, Jacob Ryan and Savannah Jo.
